BARANGAI (ancient name used by the islanders for vessels of medium capacity) is one of the best lots of rum with a particular fondness for congestion-free caramel, unfiltered, cold, fresh from individual barrels aged in underground cellars for years. The coat of arms reproduced on the label is the national emblem of Trinidad & Tobago depicting the flora and fauna along with the edict of independence from England, dated August 31, 1962. RUM CARONI 1997 is a fine bottle of rum aged in casks of sherry, mahogany-red color and fabulous notes of white wine (Chardonnay) per barrel in the past along with notes of fresh lime and sweet citrus, spicy notes of cedar, sandalwood, ginger, licorice. Powerful, dry, well-balanced, with the final chocolate. A rum which may seem austere at first but after a while sweet notes emerge, intriguing and complex that make it an excellent distillation of valuable experience. A distillate after dinner.
